Call for Workshop Proposals-Spring 2022

The Community Geographies Collaborative (CGC) is seeking proposals for two virtual workshops this spring. The goal of these sessions is to share useful frameworks, techniques, and experiences that support collaborative work across institutional boundaries that addresses pressing social problems. The format of these sessions can be a panel discussion on a topic of interest, an author meets critics-style session, or a demonstration of a particular tool or methodology of interest to the larger group. Workshops are held online through Zoom and normally last no more than an hour.

Proposals should describe the overall focus of the workshop and an outline of how the time would be structured (e.g., panel questions or topics covered). The proposal should also include a list of possible presenters/panelists, identify how the expertise of these individuals is relevant to the topic, and explain how the session as a whole will be of interest to CGC members. The CGC board will provide logistical support for selected sessions as well as feedback and assistance in developing content and recruiting panelists.

These proposals should be submitted by Monday, January 31 to Jerry Shannon (jshannon@uga.edu), Valentina Muraleedharan (vm0028@mix.wvu.edu), and Ayodeji Iyanda (aeiyanda@pvamu.edu).

The mission of the CGC is to support community-engaged geographic research and researchers by providing financial and practical resources for collaborative partnerships, hosting forums for collaboration and mutual support, engaging in social action, and advocating for alternative modes of scholarship that value often marginalized community voices and prioritize community benefits.
