Making Community Geography Count was a panel discussion that took place on Monday, February 13th. Our panel of three scholars reflected on how best to communicate the value of community engaged scholarship to the various institutions we inhabit for the purposes of funding, employment, and resources.
Our panelists included:
- Dr. Ahmed Allahwala, Associate Professor in the Department of Human Geography at University of Toronto Scarborough
- Dr. Aída R. Guhlincozzi, University of Missouri Preparing Future Faculty Post-Doctoral Scholar in Geography and Women’s and Gender Studies Departments
- Blog post: “Community Geography’s Superpower“
- Dr. David Padgett, Associate Professor of Geography and Director of the Geographic Information Sciences Laboratory at Tennessee State University (Website)
- Blog post: “Community Geography at Tennessee State“
As part of our workshops, we ask panelists to write a blog post for the website (see the links above). During the panel discussion, panelists discussed these thoughts with one another and with any attendees.
A recording of the panel is available below, and this link gives a rough transcription of the conversation.
